Experience the Limousin

Experience

Experience what the Limousin has on offer, its lifestyle and its inhabitants. Throughout the year there are many markets in the villages and towns, where you can find local products, such as honey or meats from sausages to chickens or ducks, and yes even tractors! Markets are an important part of the social calendar social. This is an opportunity for people to meet, chat and drink an aperitif at the buffet. Besides the regular markets, there are also many special markets such as flea markets or other car boot sales (vide-grenier), farmers’ markets with only local made products or foods.

Experiencing Limousin also means eating in one of the many restaurants dotted around the area. Almost every village has a restaurant. Food is very important to the locals. While they eat their main meal at lunchtime, ie. between 12 and 2pm, life is very quiet in the Limousin. Because people often eat in a restaurant, quality standards are high, hence you can have an all inclusive lunch menu including a glass of wine for about 15 euros.

Water
Many villages have a beautiful swimming lake with a beach, often even with a lifeguard during the summer months. In addition, there are a few larger lakes such as Lac de Vassivière or Lac de Saint Pardoux, where you can enjoy sailing, windsurfing and water-skiing. Some fast-flowing rivers such as the Vienne offer kayaking, canoeing or fishing possibilities.
