A few years ago, half of this former barn was converted into an atmospheric home that fully meets today's requirements and wishes. The other half of the barn is still storage and workspace, but with a concrete floor.
The house is located in a typical small hamlet about 10 minutes' drive from the village of La Croisille sur Briance. Here you will find basic amenities such as a café, bakery, supermarket, doctor and pharmacy. In addition, the village is known for its monthly big market. The hamlet consists of just a few houses and barns.
Atmospheric
The barn was converted as a family project several years ago. The sturdy wooden construction is visible, as are some of the stone walls. The large staircase to the mezzanine is an eye-catching atmospheric element. Full use has been made of the height, but good insulation and intelligent placement of the wood-burning fireplace have not compromised on comfort.
On the ground floor is the spacious living area with its sitting area and fully equipped kitchen. To one side are a bathroom, the storage room and a (bedroom) room. From the living space you have access to the outside at both the front and rear, where there is a terrace on both sides. Upstairs are three spacious and high bedrooms and a modern and attractive bathroom (walk-in shower, bath, washbasin and toilet). The landing is deliberately kept ‘open’ to enhance the spatial feeling.
Outside
At the back is the terrace and the wooden pool ready for use. Here you have beautiful views over the Limousin countryside inviting for walking or cycling. Part of the plot is mowed and part is used for hay by a neighbouring farmer. At the front, there is an old pigsty used as storage. It has a concrete floor. The garage on the little road through the hamlet is too low and small for a modern car, but perfect for bikes. If you want, you can easily park your car(s) in the large barn next to the house.
