The Limousin and Dordogne are located in the south western corner of France. This is where you can expect to find the real France with its small traditional villages which have almost always kept, despite their small size, their bakery, post office and restaurant. Locals are usually very friendly and helpful.
There is plenty of space in the Limousin or Dordogne, it is very peaceful and sometimes you can even enjoy complete silence. At night you can experience deep darkness with brilliant starry skies. You can walk on old cart trails or cycle along winding country lanes. Wherever you go, you can enjoy rolling green pastures where the well-known reddish brown Limousin cattle graze. Aside good quality beef meat, the Limousin is also known for being a porcelain manufacturing area. There are several factories where you can learn all about the baking process and receive information about manufacturing. It is often possible to buy very nice pieces direct from the factory shop.
