Dream holiday house

Remember your dream of a large country house where you could spend holidays with your family or friends? Stop dreaming, because it really exists! This 2350 ft2 barn has been entirely and very tastefully converted and with great detailing care, so that your dreams may come true. Here, no sign of botched DIY jobs, just a recent professional renovation. There is a small elevated terrace with railings around in front of the main entrance door, as it is slightly higher than street level. The 190 ft2 entrance hall includes a separate toilet with a hand washbasin and a towel warmer. The walls are painted in white and the floor is laid with travertine tiles, the doors and windows have stone and half-timbered surrounds. This at once gives the place a warm and sober feel. A solid oak staircase leads up to the first floor. The barn’s layout is reversed, as the bedrooms and bathrooms are on the ground floor and the living area on the first floor at garden level. To the left of the entrance lobby, bedroom 1 is 105 ft2. It has thick cream coloured carpets on the floor, white painted walls and exposed beam work. Beyond the entrance area, a central corridor with doors to the various rooms on either side. To the left, bathroom 1 is 97 ft2 and is fitted with a bath, a shower, a single bowl bathroom cabinet, a towel warmer and a WC. A mix of white painted surfaces and beige coloured tiles on the walls, stone effect tiles on the floor. To the right of the corridor, a 150 ft2 double bedroom with large bay windows, white walls with stone detailing and cream coloured carpets on the floor. Exposed ceiling beams. Then the 183 ft2 master bedroom with a 65 ft2 adjoining single bedroom / office and a 75 ft2 en-suite bathroom. This main bedroom has a similar bay window and interior to the previous bedroom, except for the pretty floral wallpaper on one of the walls. The en-suite is almost completely tiled and has a fitted shower, a washbasin and cabinet, a towel warmer and a toilet. Next to the bathroom but accessible via the corridor, there is the 118 ft2 boiler room that houses the recently fitted Viesmann central heating boiler and oil tank. Then a 125 ft2 utility room with travertine floors and fitted washbasin and washing machine. A large double bowl Belfast sink with storage cabinets were going to be fitted but have not been. The entrance hall solid wood staircase leads up to a big 560 ft2 rectangular living room on the first floor. Ceiling height to the ridge beam is over 13 ft. The room is bright thanks to the three large skylight windows, a window in the gable wall and French doors to the outdoor terrace. Its interior has a very warm feel as a large chimney with wooden surrounding has been built to take “centre stage”. It has a log burner fitted inside. There are magnificent solid clear varnished parquet floors and the roof’s full A-frame has been left exposed. A doorway through the exposed stone shear wall gets you in the next door kitchen. This 581 ft2 room is simply fitted and is just as bright as the living room. It also has French doors to the terrace. The upper part of the old barn doors on street level has been replaced by bay windows that are level with the kitchen floors, thus bringing even more natural light in. Along the outside of the building, there is a decked terrace with an area of ca. 430 ft2 with railings all around which is right in front of the garden. Just imagine the unforgettable moments you will be able to spend there enjoying a home cooked meal with your family or friends! Down a few steps and you are on the gravel courtyard at garden level. This is where you can park your cars. The full garden area is of about 4300 ft2 and lies mostly at the back of the house. There are three different outbuildings: a rendered garage separated from the road by a gravelled off-road parking spot. Against the back of the garage, a 215 ft2 stone shed with a door at garden level and finally a detached stone building in the middle of the lawn to put your garden tools away. The garden is fully fenced in with panel fencing and a wooden fence with a double gate. The recent septic tank installation is under the gravelled courtyard. The property is located in a small hamlet away from the main county road network. Still, the closest amenities are only 3 miles away in Bujaleuf and the town of Eymoutiers is a 6 mile drive. Limoges centre is 25 miles away and the Limoges international airport less than an hour’s drive.
