The lucky inhabitant of this railway cottage never had a busy job as the railway only had one track. This little house is located on a tranquil location without any disturbances. The river Vienne can be reached by a gravelled path, only at a few minutes distance from the house. The front door opens directly into the kitchen of the house. The kitchen is about 12m2 and has some built in cabinets, a large work top, a sink and gas cooker. The windows on both sides offer lots of light. A wood burner provides warmth and a place to cook (in winter). The well sized living room has an extension with a beautiful stone wall and French doors opening into the garden. The extension also has a wood burner. Between the kitchen and the living room is a kind of buanderie/storeroom with toilet, water pump and washing-machine connections. In the kitchen is the stairway to the bedrooms. There is two of them. The one looking onto the rail way tracks has a lovely wooden floor and a French balcony. The bathroom is modern and bright colours and has a toilet, bath and sink. The garden surrounding the house is not big (257 m²), but offers enough space for a terrace. On the other side of the track is a second plot (933 m²) that belongs to the whole. This plot is fenced but completely overgrown. It will take a week work, but you’ll create a great place for a second terrace, swing or slide, badminton court and flower/vegetable garden. Here you’ll also find the well, which was beaten at all railway guard houses. The train follows the railway line between Limoges and Ussel. The transition and the railroad have been redone a few years ago, making the passage has become a lot quieter. Weekday pass about 20 trains. These are not long Intercity trains with great speed, but a slow train from one wagon net. In the morning, for the commuters, sometimes with two wagons. On Saturday, the track goes down tree 10 times for a passing train, as on Sundays. The warning bell for the arriving train is still going on. If you are standing outside and waving, the driver will pass cheerfully honking! Lovely and remote location, only minutes away from "civilization" (supermarket, shops and restaurants).

Eymoutiers


Eymoutiers is a pleasant town with a medieval character and has about 2150 inhabitants. The Vienne River meanders through the town center. During the day there is much activity in the town that employs several shopkeepers, businessmen and laborers. At 12 o’clock most people find their way to the restaurants or bar tabac. A supermarket, several bakeries and butchers provide the daily necessities. You will also find, among other banking and insurance offices, post office, a hardware store, a florist and several hairdressers in the town center. In culture there is also plenty to discover: the church, cinema, exhibition hall Paul Rebeyrolle, the Mineral Museum. On Saturday you can walk among the market stalls on the main square. Every first and third Thursday of the month is the big market (Foire) held. In addition, four times a year a theme market is organized. But the sportives among us, you will not get bored!Millevaches Park, several hiking trails, fishing in the Vienne, kayaking, pool, tennis court .... Eymoutiers has a railwaystation. In short Eymoutiers has plenty to offer!
