Two houses in a hamlet

An old cottage consisting of a room full of character with a large fireplace, stone flooring and walls and a beamed ceiling. Other details include, an alcove next to the front door and on the opposite wall as well as an old bread oven, of which you can see the door inside the chimney piece. This room sets you back a century and you can imagine the way people used to live then. The ceiling height between the beams is lower than usual, with its 2.3 metres (ca. 7 1/2 ft), but there is still plenty of head clearance left. There is a hatch door in the ceiling of the main room which opens to the unconverted attic. This room has a door to another room at the back of the building. An extra room, an old woodshed, can be accessed from the outside. If the old dwelling has retained its original character, the original stables were renovated a lot more recently. They consist of a living room with a fireplace and large patio doors that open to the garden, then of a very small kitchen and a bathroom fitted with a shower cubicle and a washbasin, and finally of a single garage next to the living space. In the garage, some stairs lead up to an extension, which was built later on above the stables, and which comprises of 2 bedrooms. One of them has a balcony overlooking the garden. This property is currently divided into two separate homes, but with very little effort you can create a nice (holiday) home. There is already a door that links both houses but it has been closed up by a wardrobe. The ideal solution would be to merge both living spaces into one because the old part hasn't got a bathroom nor a kitchen! The adjoining house's current living space can be turned into a beautiful and bright open-plan kitchen diner. There is a south-west facing terrace in front of both houses. The garden is not big, but it has some flowering shrubs, trees and it is completely fenced up and easy to maintain. The septic tank has been recently renovated and meets the current standards. With little effort and at little expense, you can create a nice and big home, perfect for the holidays. It is located in a quiet hamlet, in an area that will delight walkers or good cyclists. It would be especially great for those who want to enjoy the French way of life!

Eymoutiers

Eymoutiers is a pleasant town with a medieval character and has about 2150 inhabitants. The Vienne River meanders through the town center. During the day there is much activity in the town that employs several shopkeepers, businessmen and laborers. At 12 o’clock most people find their way to the restaurants or bar tabac. A supermarket, several bakeries and butchers provide the daily necessities. You will also find, among other banking and insurance offices, post office, a hardware store, a florist and several hairdressers in the town center. In culture there is also plenty to discover: the church, cinema, exhibition hall Paul Rebeyrolle, the Mineral Museum. On Saturday you can walk among the market stalls on the main square. Every first and third Thursday of the month is the big market (Foire) held. In addition, four times a year a theme market is organized. But the sportives among us, you will not get bored!Millevaches Park, several hiking trails, fishing in the Vienne, kayaking, pool, tennis court .... Eymoutiers has a railwaystation. In short Eymoutiers has plenty to offer!
